Samaritans rely purely on volunteer support and new volunteers are always needed. It is a challenging experience and it can be very rewarding knowing that you have made a difference. For some personal stories click here.

Putney branch of Samaritans are looking for people from all walks of life, and especially daytime volunteers. We need people with the ability to listen, without passing judgement. You don't need formal qualifications or previous experience but you must be over 18. We will ensure your are fully prepared for your role as a Samaritan volunteer. Thorough training and support is given. Volunteers are never left to cope with a harrowing call on their own. .

Once trained you will be asked to do a shift a week of 3 to 4 hours a week with 1 shift every month involving a late night or early morning duty.
